The Sherman Oaks Street Fair Returns to Ventura on Sunday. Many of the Storefronts Around It Have New Tenants.

A vintage Airstream trailer is now parked at the corner of Ventura Boulevard and Fulton Avenue, across from Casa Vega. It marks Fulton Crossing, a new mixed-use building with shops on the ground floor and offices above. Its anchor tenant is Blank Street Coffee. In its August 2026 newsletter, the Sherman Oaks Homeowners Association wrote that the corner "is finally becoming something."

That corner is the clearest example of what has happened on the Boulevard since last October. The 34th Sherman Oaks Street Fair arrives this Sunday, October 18, on the same stretch of Ventura it used in 2025. A good share of the storefronts around it now have different tenants, and in most cases the building stayed and the business inside it changed.

Same Blocks, Same Hours, a New Headliner

The fair runs from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Ventura Boulevard between Kester Avenue and Van Nuys Boulevard, according to the official Street Fair site. Last year's fair, held Sunday, October 19, 2025, used the same hours and the same Kester-to-Van-Nuys stretch, KTLA reported. The Sherman Oaks/Encino Chamber produces the fair, and admission is free for all ages.

The headliner is the biggest change from last year. KTLA's 2025 coverage named David Hernandez. The 2026 main stage closes with Yvette Cooke, lead singer of the soul group Rose Royce. Here is the posted main-stage lineup:

  1. Koda Corvette, 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
  2. Lamar Lubin, 1 to 2:30 p.m.
  3. Angelica Nero, 3:15 p.m.
  4. Yvette Cooke, 3:45 to 5:45 p.m.

Julian Miranda hosts the main stage. The fair site describes him as a Las Vegas entertainer and a former background singer for Rick James, Teena Marie, Enrique Iglesias and Taylor Dayne.

The rest of the fair has these parts:

  • Community stage: performances by local schools, with ten schools listed on the 2026 page.
  • Carnival rides: a Ferris wheel, swings, a zip line and a bounce house, plus four carnival games.
  • Pet adoption: Callies Canine Rescue, Concerned Citizens Animal Rescue and Rover's Retreat are listed. Los Angeles Animal Services was still marked as awaiting confirmation.
  • Cham-BAR: Islands, The Local Peasant and The Oaks Tavern are listed. The copy describes four bars, so a fourth may be added before Sunday.
  • Food: food booths and food trucks, subject to permits and limited availability, according to the vendor page.

The organizers haven't posted 2026 parking or transit instructions. Check the fair site again before Sunday instead of assuming last year's arrangements still apply.

The Storefronts That Changed Hands

Most of what's new on Ventura this fall moved into a space people already knew under a different name. SOHA President Matt Epstein's monthly Comings & Goings column has tracked these changes since summer. Here are the spaces that changed:

The space What it was What it is now
13422 Ventura Blvd Mistral, closed for renovation Mistral, reopened August 10 under new owners
Corner of Ventura and Fulton Corner across from Casa Vega, before Fulton Crossing Fulton Crossing, anchored by Blank Street Coffee
13711 Ventura Blvd, near Woodman Green Queen, a dispensary Florahound, a rare-plant shop
Former Le Pain Quotidien Longtime café Planned bagel shop
Corner of Ventura and Woodman Samos Leased by Chef Ludo Lefebvre for a sandwich concept

Mistral kept its menu

Mistral has the longest history in the table. Epstein's August column says the restaurant had operated for thirty-eight years. It changed hands the year before, and the new owners initially kept the food and most of the staff. Then they closed it for a renovation into a more modern French bistro. Eater LA reported that Mistral reopened at 13422 Ventura on August 10, 2026, under restaurateur Jonah Freedman and partner Josh Migdal.

According to the column, most of the menu survived the remodel. The tuna tartare, lump crab cakes, house-cured king salmon, Mistral Caesar and French onion soup are all still there, along with the duck, John Dory, rack of lamb, steaks and pastas. The one new dish Epstein spotted is a Mistral Burger.

The only Mistral project still pending is Henri's, a small raw bar attached to the restaurant. Eater's August report said it would open "later this fall." Los Angeles Magazine said "late fall." As of mid-October, we couldn't find a confirmed opening date.

Fulton and Woodman are getting new tenants

The Fulton corner is the one new building on this list. By September, Epstein reported that Blank Street had taken over the Fulton and Ventura corner and was "already pulling a line out the door." He described the interior as design-forward, with notable furniture. We couldn't confirm which other tenants have signed at Fulton Crossing.

LLAMA, a creative play studio, opened nearby at 13443 Ventura, just past Casa Vega. It offers art classes, sewing classes, workshops, birthday parties and a series called Grown-Up Nights.

Near Woodman, Florahound has moved into the former Green Queen storefront at 13711 Ventura, the building with the painted facade. The column describes it as a rare-plant shop built around the work of master horticulturist Leon Massoth. For decades he has grown tropical species that he collected as seed and raised slowly. Epstein's column encourages visitors to go in, meet Leon and ask him questions.

The next big change at Woodman is still unnamed. Chef Ludo Lefebvre of Petit Trois has signed a lease on the corner restaurant space that Samos has occupied for the last few years. Per SOHA's September column, the concept is expected to be sandwiches, but Lefebvre asked to share a name and clearer plans later.

One Closure, and Many Coffee and Bagel Openings

The fall also brought a long-running closure. Boneyard Bistro closed on September 12 after more than twenty years. Owner and chef Aaron Robins posted a farewell thanking the Sherman Oaks community. SOHA wrote that the restaurant handled slow-smoked brisket and eclectic bistro fare "with equal confidence." SOHA hasn't reported a new tenant for the space.

New openings have mostly been in two categories. Epstein calls the first a "coffee-and-bagel war," noting that Sherman Oaks and Studio City seem to sprout a new coffee shop or bagel spot every week. Blank Street is the most visible example, and the former Le Pain Quotidien space is next in line as a bagel shop.

The second category is sushi, which was already crowded. The same column counts more than thirty sushi restaurants on Ventura. Sumi Sushi, next door to Burger She Wrote, takes a fresh fish delivery every day, so the chef's recommendation depends on that day's delivery. Sumi's site lists its address as 14245 Ventura Boulevard. It serves dinner seven days a week and takes walk-ins and reservations.

Separately, SOHA's September restaurant feature notes a new Honey Baked Ham at 14427 Ventura. The feature doesn't give an opening date.

Planning Around Sunday

Fair hours run from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Koda Corvette opens the main stage at 10:30, and Yvette Cooke's set runs until 5:45. The fair covers Kester to Van Nuys, so a morning at the fair can be followed by a coffee at Fulton or a stop at Florahound before the shops close. Mistral offers a dinner option, and the menu still includes the dishes it served before the renovation.

The fair site lists a community stage of school performances for families with performers in the lineup. Check the 2026 activities page for the list of schools. The Chamber's 2026 page shows sponsor and vendor registration open, so the final vendor list may still change before Sunday.

The Sherman Oaks Farmers Market is unaffected by the fair. It operates year-round on Tuesdays from 2 to 6 p.m. at 14006 Riverside Drive at Woodman, according to the state's list of certified farmers markets as of October 1, 2026.

New tenants at the corners near your home can also affect what buyers will pay on your street.
